Start with the exposed condition, not the finish alone. This guide records planning preferences and links to official product information. It does not choose a profile, approve an assembly, confirm availability, or provide an installation instruction.
A backsplash top edge, wall outside corner, shower exposed edge, and floor transition have different physical conditions. Compare profiles within the relevant official application category before discussing appearance.
Schluter’s JOLLY, QUADEC, RONDEC, SCHIENE, and RENO-U instructions call for selection according to tile thickness and format. RENO-U also requires membrane build-up over the anchoring leg to be considered when applicable. A nominal tile label alone is not a final profile-height selection.
A finish may blend with the tile, contrast with it, or coordinate with another visible element. The actual material and finish options, compatibility, maintenance implications, and current availability remain for product and project review.
RENO-U is described by Schluter for tile transitions to lower-elevation coverings, while RENO-T is described for existing same-height hard-surface retrofit transitions. SCHIENE is described for tile edges such as where tile borders carpet. Measure the adjacent floor and identify the existing joint before selecting a transition approach.
