Tile layout preview

Enter approximate dimensions in the units shown and use the preview to record a layout direction, joint look, and cut preference. This is a planning sketch only. It does not approve an installation, establish a tile assembly, or produce an order quantity.

Use the preview to make preferences visible

The sketch compares straight and offset arrangements for a floor area, hallway or turn, or fireplace face. It is a visual conversation aid, not a scaled field template. Actual measurements, room squareness, openings, and focal lines still need to be checked on site.

Large rectangular tile needs product-specific offset review

TCNA explains that rectangular-tile offsets can make lippage more noticeable when tile warpage is present. Its guidance notes that some manufacturers recommend avoiding offsets over 33% when a tile edge is longer than 18 inches and advises checking the manufacturer for a larger offset. The selected tile's current instructions control.

Flatness and joints remain verification items

A Custom Building Products large-format tile FAQ identifies tile or stone with an edge over 15 inches as large format and cites substrate-flatness reference values of 1/8 inch in 10 feet and 1/16 inch in 24 inches. Those figures are not a measurement of this project, a joint specification, or an installation approval. Confirm the chosen tile, substrate, joint, movement-joint, mortar, and assembly requirements before work or ordering.
